Benjamin Paz
Producer Relations & Development
Benjamin grew up in the family business processing, milling and exporting conventional coffees until the Cup of Excellence revealed Santa Barbara Mountain as one of the world’s most unique and hallowed places for specialty coffee. A mutual desire from producers looking for stability and roasters looking for closer connection to their coffees created the model for relationship coffee for which Benjamin has become a global ambassador and inspiration.
Not content to merely facilitate, he planted his own farms to pursue the same excellence and relational experience he promotes. Now a Cup of Excellence Champion himself, Benjamin broke the record auction price in Honduras. He also loves Transformers and Dragon Ball Z.
John Felder
Logistics & Inventory Systems
John moved to San Francisco from Iowa to learn coding but an initial job in coffee led him to Saint Frank Coffee as an opening day team member in 2013. Since then John has held roles in quality control, roasting, logistics and operations. If there is a potential problem John’s already accounted for it and begun a solution for mitigating its impacts. He’s dedicated to constantly improving efficiencies and building reliable systems because it matters.
John has been managing inventory and logistics across multiple origins, producers, imports, warehouses and roasters in our networks from day one. In his spare time John is cataloging dad jokes worth telling and planning his next wilderness adventure.
Lauren Bohlin
Administration & Accounting
Lauren comes to Bonaventure with a wealth of experience in administration in the field of higher education. After a decade plus of university work while managing administrative duties for Saint Frank and Bonaventure all of specialty coffee is rejoicing as Lauren joins the work full time!
She oversees finances providing support to John and Harris ensuring everyone is paid, coffees are moving and systems are flowing. Lauren also is single-handedly responsible for holding Kevin together so as not to be a total optimistic disaster.
Lawrence Jarvey
Roaster Relations & Impact Finance
Lawrence helped found the seed project of Bonaventure brining his own Phoenix, AZ coffee company Provision into collaborative and relational sourcing alongside Saint Frank. He brings an enthusiastic founder energy to our work having tread all the paths our roasters partners are facing in their businesses. He’s passionate about what this model can mean for every soul it touches.
Lawrence is hard at work developing our impact models and systems to blow this beautiful thing wide open. His favorite job, however, is being a dad to his two daughters in the desert where he runs the table at every charity golf tournament he can find. Lawrence will happily take your money on the golf course with a hole in one. Seriously, don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Kevin Bohlin
Vision & Direction
After a brief stint as a middle school art teacher Kevin fell in love with coffee. He left Texas for San Francisco to learn specialty coffee with Ritual Roasters becoming USBC finalist “Tex”. This led him to Santa Barbara, Honduras where he met a fellow named Benjamin Paz and later started Saint Frank Coffee which would pilot the very vision of Bonaventure.
The creation and promotion of meaningful relationship coffee has been his lifelong mission ever since and he’s got a few stories to tell. Kevin might not be able to tell you the location of his keys at any given moment but he can tell you nearly every coffee and wine he’s ever enjoyed, where he was and who he was with.
